PATRICIA LALOR TO COPE

The 14 year old Irish songwriter Patricia Lalor has been releasing music since 2019. Recently, she dropped a smashingly titled track 'This Man Thought He Saved Me', full of murky guitars and effortlessly cool vocals, and today she releases 'To Cope'. The new single sees a minimal monotonous drum machine, surrounded by reverb-dripping electronic keys. Lalor sings almost too deep for her voice, the production womb-like and cosy, with good amounts of low end frequencies, adding to the downcast tone of the track. The song progresses with the addition of off-kilter electronics and synths, as Lalor's vocals gain a disorientated delay. Emotionally, the two new tracks 'This Man Thought He Saved Me', and 'To Cope' sit in the same field as early Warpaint, littered with the kind of electronics you might find in Young Marble Giants. We're excited to see what follows. -Ellie Rose-Davies
